A 360 assessment for leaders at all levels
Every journey starts somewhere. And if you want to embark on improving your leadership, you need to understand your starting point.
Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner’s longitudinal research has demonstrated that virtually everyone has the capacity to lead. There are specific behaviors that exemplary leaders engage in, and we can all learn them. But not only is leadership learnable, it’s also measurable. The Leadership Practices Inventory® is a widely used 360-degree assessment instrument that measures how frequently leaders are currently exhibiting the specific behaviors that drive exemplary performance. These behaviors are written in simple, easy to understand language. They do not require specialized skills or a particular leadership style or personality. Anyone can decide to leverage these behaviors to help their teams and organizations reach higher levels of performance and impact.
In addition to the structured questions that are assessed quantitively, this instrument allows for up to 5 open-ended questions that survey participants respond to in essay format. Some of the core questions are typically things like:
What are this leaders’ 2-3 greatest strengths?
What are 2-3 things this leader could do differently to enhance their performance and impact?
What potential blind spots does this leader have?
What could this leader do to improve the relationships s/he has in the organization?
What should this leader start/stop/continue?
But questions can also be tailored to specific competencies or initiatives. Recent examples include things like:
How well does this leader drive change and innovation in our organization?
Describe how this leader contributes to creating a workplace that is diverse, inclusive, and equitable for all people?
How well aligned are this leader’s behaviors with our organizational values of (X,Y,Z)?
